Job summary

The United Firm | La Liga Defensora, APC seeks a Criminal Defense Legal Assistant to support the department with research, document creation, and database maintenance. You will report to the Department Supervisor and collaborate to move cases forward in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications include 1+ year Criminal Defense experience and bilingual English/Spanish proficiency. Paralegal background and familiarity with Case Management Software are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of Criminal Defense experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) with high proficiency.
• Paralegal or related legal field experience required.
• Experience with Case Management Software or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain client communication and provide case updates.
• Manage attorney schedule including meetings and court appearances.
• Process criminal cases for trial prep: documents, data entry, correspondence.
• Prepare subpoenas and manage discovery with defense attorneys.
• Coordinate court appearances, depositions, and conferences.
• Obtain and review criminal histories and related records.
• Schedule meetings between defense attorneys and prosecutors.
• Assist victims with restitution information, orders, and court dates.
• Communicate with law enforcement and the public as needed.
• Support department operations, including front desk duties and mail handling.
