Job summary

Cambridge Public Schools invites applications for an Acting Instructional Aide (7.5 hours per day) at the King School in Cambridge, MA. The role supports the classroom teacher by implementing a curriculum tailored to diverse learners and providing enriching activities across the day.

The aide will work with students individually and in small groups, document progress, prepare materials, and supervise recess as directed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; minimum of Associates degree, or 48 college credits.
• Previous coursework in the education of elementary-grade children is preferred.
• Previous successful classroom experience with students in an urban, multicultural setting, preferably at the elementary level.
• Demonstrated ability to respect diversity and help children develop a positive self-image as successful learners.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with planning, developing, and providing a creative learning environment focused on high academic achievement and collaborative relationships.
• Work with pupils individually and in small group activities.
• Assist in the documentation of pupil progress and in preparing instructional materials.
• Assist the teacher with recess supervision.
