Job summary

Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a bilingual Child Protective Services Worker (Social Service Specialist 1) in Clackamas. You will conduct safety assessments, engage families, and collaborate with diverse communities to promote safe, stable, and healthy outcomes for Oregon’s children.

Requirements include bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, a valid driver's license, and a completed degree or equivalent experience per Oregon standards.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish and English required; passing tests with speaking and writing proficiency; bilingual differential pay after offer.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field, OR one year of related experience, OR completion of Oregon Caseworker Competency coursework.
• Associate Degree with related experience or certification may fulfill minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Safety & Wellbeing: help families achieve safety and well-being of children.
• Engagement: interact with children, families, resource parents and caregivers to promote safety and outcomes.
• Assessment and Interviews: perform safety assessments and fact-finding interviews; address care and needs levels.
• Strategies: develop and implement multi-level strategies leveraging family strengths.
• Decision-Making: analyze information to determine child safety consideration.
• Communication: prepare reports, case notes, and testimony; communicate with diverse populations.
