Job summary

Nevada Health Centers is seeking a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to provide basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. This role may require relocation to NVHC clinics based on business needs. Flexibility and willingness to relocate are required.

The position supports confidentiality, teamwork, and adherence to policies, with opportunities to participate in peer training, community outreach, and comprehensive NVHC benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Has breastfed at least one baby for at least six months.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to confidentiality policies.
• Attends peer counselor training and meetings; participates in in-service or classes.
• Observes WIC staff and lactation consultants assisting mothers in breastfeeding.
• Reads assigned breastfeeding materials and applies NVHC policy and HIPAA rules.
• Maintains required driving license and insurance; travels to multiple clinic locations.
• Demonstrates courteous, professional behavior and supports team/workflow improvements.
