Job summary

The Federal Public Defender for the District of Arizona has an opening for a full-time assistant paralegal to be stationed in Tucson. The role supports case file management, discovery handling, client contact, and litigation support while working in a federal defender office.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least three years general experience and two years specialized experience, with Spanish language proficiency required and background investigation preceding

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent with at least three years of general experience and two years of specialized experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate is preferred.
• Spanish language proficiency is required for this position and must be demonstrated through testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with case file management
• Gather, organize, summarize, and index electronic and paper documents and other discovery materials
• Assist with client contact and communication
• Prepare case-related forms and support staff paralegals and investigators with out-of-district requests
• Coordinate records gathering and litigation support using advanced software
• Calendar court hearings and jail visits; type letters and motions; file pleadings
