Job summary

Crossroads Safehouse & Services is seeking a full-time bilingual crisis intervention advocate to support English/Spanish programming and shelter operations in Fort Collins, CO. You will conduct client intakes, provide crisis line coverage, and manage a caseload of residents and outreach clients.

The role emphasizes Spanish monolingual and bilingual services, collaboration with the DART, and ensuring safety and access to resources for victims of domestic violence.

Responsibilities

  • Provides crisis intervention in-person and via phone to victims of domestic violence.
  • Provides safety planning, individual advocacy, protection order and victim’s compensation information, victim rights information and assistance to victims of domestic violence.
  • Conducts client intakes, new resident orientation, policy contracts, and client exits.
  • Manages a caseload of outreach and residential clients, including adults and children.
  • Responds to the safety and welfare of the residents of Crossroads’ Emergency Shelter.
  • Provides information, community referrals, legal advocacy referrals, and support to victims and families.
  • Maintains current knowledge of interpersonal abuse.
  • Participates in on-call shifts on Domestic Abuse Response Team.
  • Participates on Backup/on-call rotation.
  • Performs recordkeeping functions pertaining to clients in shelter programs, including data collection, reporting, and case notes.
  • Maintains care of the facility by reporting needed repairs and health/safety hazards to the facilities manager.
  • Assists in maintaining the shelter and helps ensure the readiness of rooms for occupancy.
  • Creates and implements bilingual outreach support groups in the community.
  • Supports the facilitation of educational and promotional Crossroads/domestic violence programs and presentations to various partnership service agencies and community organizations and gatherings.

Job description

Purpose: Assists in the facilitation of English/Spanish Bilingual programming and services at Crossroads Safehouse & Services. Provides crisis intervention, participates in the Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) and supports the safehouse by maintaining the shelter facility through completing regular chores, providing shelter and crisis line coverage, and carrying a caseload with an emphasis on Spanish monolingual and Spanish bilingual clients.

Supervision Received and Exercised: Reports to and receives supervision from the Direct Services Manager

Hours, Wages, and Benefits: $21.08 plus $1.00 for bilingual - $22.08; 40-hours, consisting of evenings, weekends, weekdays, and Friday overnight

Other Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the staff team; participates in client case management, staff meetings, and team efforts in problem solving, applicable program and policy development, program evaluation, and planning.
  • Performs recordkeeping functions pertaining to clients in shelter programs, including data collection, reporting, and case notes.
  • Maintains care of the facility by reporting needed repairs and health/safety hazards to the facilities manager.
  • Assists in maintaining the shelter and helps ensure the readiness of rooms for occupancy. This includes minor maintenance, necessary cleaning, laundry, stocking of linens and supplies, sanitation of surfaces, and other chores.
  • Maintains supply of forms and handouts, assembles client files and folders.
  • Creates and implements bilingual outreach support groups in the community.
  • Supports the facilitation of educational and promotional Crossroads/domestic violence programs and presentations to various partnership service agencies and community organizations and gatherings.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by Direct Services Manager.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science, Human Services, Child Development, or related field (candidates who are working towards their degree will be considered), OR equivalent work or lived experience

Additional Notes

  • Candidate will be required to attend paid 20 hours of core competency training in order to work with individuals impacted by domestic violence.
