Illinois in Bensenville seeks a driven, service-minded bilingual (English-Spanish) Adult Services Bilingual Community Liaison Associate. This part-time, non-exempt role supports the Adult Services Community Liaison to prevent bottlenecks and improve access to services.

You will call partner organizations, assist with paperwork, translate between Spanish and English, coordinate with partners for events, and prepare materials for library programs.

Job description

The BCPL is seeking a driven, service-minded, bilingual (English-Spanish) professional who is looking to make a meaningful impact helping people in our community.

The Adult Services Bilingual Community Liaison Associate is a part‑time, non‑exempt, professional position with the responsibility to provide support to the Adult Services Community Liaison in a variety of duties in order to prevent bottlenecking of services and/or appointments.

In this position, you will be:

• Assisting patrons and the AS Community Liaison in making calls to partner social service organizations


• Assisting patrons and AS Community Liaison in completing social service/government/similar paperwork- either physically or digitally


• Assisting AS Community Liaison in any necessary translation work, from Spanish to English as well as English to Spanish


• Coordinating with partner organizations involved in library or external events


• Performs preparation of materials for any upcoming Library programs


• Assumes duties and responsibilities as necessary to provide optimum library service.

Special Requirements
Fluently bilingual in English and Spanish. Knowledge of basic computer and technology skills. Excellent communication skills, initiative and an aggressive customer service philosophy. Ability to participate in a team approach to developing and implementing services. Familiarity with local/DuPage social service resources a plus. Knowledge of modern public library objectives and information services. Possess strong organizational and time management skills.

Education and Experience
LTA/Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field –or equivalent experience work in public libraries or social services- required.
