ICWC is a non-profit legal organization providing free and affordable immigration services to underrepresented immigrants in California and Nevada. ICWC strives to provide security and stability for children who are abused, abandoned, or neglected and for immigrants who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes. We primarily work with federal immigration laws that allow marginalized immigrants to apply for work authorization and permanent residency. For more information, please visit www.icwclaw.org.
Duties and Responsibilities, may include but are not limited to:
- Handling telephone and walk-in reception duties, including scheduling client appointments for all staff;
- Processing mail from clients, USCIS, FBI, etc.;
- Assisting attorneys with tasks needed in a client’s immigration case, through a workshare task model;
- Translating (documents) between Spanish & English;
- Managing and monitoring client data collection, maintaining records/filing systems, client database and calendaring systems;
- Assisting with various operational duties, including managing facilities;
- Regularly using Microsoft Office (email, calendaring, Word, SharePoint), Cerenade (e-Immigration air) software and forms, and Google Drive: docs + sheets;
- Interpreting for clients between Spanish & English (as needed and time allows).
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (preferred, also: Four-year college Bachelor's Degree)
- Spanish language fluency: oral and written. The position requires the ability to communicate daily through oral and written communications in both Spanish and English. The administrative assistant will regularly interact with monolingual Spanish speakers. Please clearly specify in your application your ability to fluently communicate in both Spanish and English.
