Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking a Transportation Planning Specialist 1 to support statewide active transportation education and encouragement programs. This role involves coordinating program materials, data review, reporting, and stakeholder engagement to promote safe, accessible transportation options across Washington.

The position requires Spanish language proficiency, strong writing and speaking skills in English and Spanish, and the ability to manage time

Qualifications

• Fluent in Spanish with certification or ability to certify within 6 months.
• Ability to review and evaluate documents to provide input and recommendations.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Review progress reports to identify issues and risks.
• Review invoices and program data for accuracy and consistency.
• Maintain project financial tracking to support delivery and monitoring.
• Support development and delivery of active transportation programs.
• Coordinate statewide travel and translation of materials.
