Job summary

The 1933 Group is seeking a hands-on leader to run Bigfoot West in Los Angeles. You own the day-to-day operations, P&L performance, team, and guest experience, and you work the floor when needed while building a system that runs smoothly whether you are behind the stick or not.

Responsibilities include hitting monthly targets for sales, beverage cost, and labor; building weekly schedules; placing orders; and monitoring daily performance with Toast, Margin Edge, and Push.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of bar management or GM experience in a high-volume venue.
• Proven beverage cost, labor, and inventory control.
• Working knowledge of Toast or similar POS; Margin Edge and Push a plus.
• Strong knowledge of California labor law and compliance.
• RBS certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days.

About Us

1933 Group operates more than a dozen bars and restaurants across Los Angeles, including Formosa Cafe, Idle Hour, Thirsty Crow, and Highland Park Bowl. Bigfoot West is our lodge-style neighborhood bar on Venice Blvd: whiskey, cold beer, a loyal regular crowd, and a room that feels like a cabin someone forgot to close. We are looking for a hands-on leader to run the building.

The Role

You own Bigfoot West's day-to-day operations, P&L performance, team, and guest experience. You work the floor and the bar when the night calls for it, but your job is to build a team and systems that run well whether you are behind the stick or not.

Compensation

Monthly stipend, hourly rate when bartending, and percentage of monthly profit giving true ownership of the space

What You'll Do

Operations and Financials

• Hit monthly targets for sales, beverage cost, and labor cost
• Build and manage weekly schedules against sales forecasts
• Place orders and upload invoices
• Monitor daily sales and labor in Toast and Push; flag variances before they hit the P&L
• Handle cash handling procedures, nightly tips
• Submit maintenance requests through MaintainX

Beverage Program

• Manage the spirits, beer, and cocktail list in line with 1933 Group standards
• Cost all bev through Margin Edge
• Build vendor relationships and negotiate pricing, placements, and promotions
• Train staff on product knowledge, specs, and responsible service

People

• Recruit, hire, onboard, and train bartenders, barbacks, and security
• Coach performance, document issues accurately, and handle discipline fairly and consistently
• Enforce meal and rest break compliance, clock-in accuracy, and tip policies
• Keep the team informed and accountable

Compliance and Safety

• Maintain ABC, health department, and Cal/OSHA compliance
• Keep all staff current on RBS certification and food handler cards
• Manage security protocols, ID checks, and incident reporting

Guest Experience and Marketing

• Keep the bar busy on slow nights: events, programming, and regular-building
• Respond to guest reviews and resolve complaints
• Coordinate with corporate on social media, private events, and promotions

What You Bring

• 3+ years of bar management or GM experience in a high-volume bar
• Proven record managing beverage cost, labor, and inventory to target
• Working knowledge of Toast or a comparable POS; Margin Edge and Push experience a plus
• Strong understanding of California labor law: breaks, overtime, tip rules
• Current California RBS certification, or able to obtain one within 30 days of hire
• Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs

Schedule

5 days per week, including 2-3 scheduled bartending. Nights and Fri/Sat required.
