KBR is seeking a Big Data Systems Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be part of the KBR team supporting the Test Resource Management Center’s (TRMC) Big Data (BD) and Knowledge Management (KM) Team deploying BD and KM systems for DoD testing Ranges and various acquisition programs.

Big Data Systems Engineer – Job Summary

This is a nationwide, remote-capable position. The candidate may work from one of KBR’s facilities or from home, provided they have a stable internet connection.

The Big Data Systems Engineer will work on deploying and integrating the Cloud Hybrid Edge-to-Enterprise Evaluation Test & Analysis Suite (CHEETAS) at multiple DoD ranges and labs. You will be responsible for deploying CHEETAS within customer environments, working closely with system administrators and software developers to resolve deployment issues, and ensuring seamless integration across various environments, some with no outside internet connectivity.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Deploy and integrate CHEETAS at multiple DoD ranges and labs
• Work with system administrators and software developers to troubleshoot and resolve deployment issues
• Deploy CHEETAS within diverse environments, including non-standard hardware and secure vaults

Basic Qualifications

• Active U.S. government TS/SCI security clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related) and 10 years of DoD experience
• Experience with Hadoop, SQL Server Big Data Cluster, Kubernetes, CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat, Windows Server, VMWare
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in big data environments

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency in deploying and configuring Big Data and Knowledge Management tools
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
• Experience with tools like Helm Charts, YAML, Kubernetes, NFS, SMB, S3, SQL Server, Linux, Hadoop
• Ability to learn new processes rapidly and work independently
• Excellent presentation and documentation skills
• Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years in government/defense labs
• Experience with DoD acquisition programs and cybersecurity policies
