KBR’s National Security Solutions (NSS) team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will have a profound impact on the country’s most critical role – protecting our national security.

KBR is seeking a Big Data Systems Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will support the Test Resource Management Center’s (TRMC) Big Data (BD) and Knowledge Management (KM) Team deploying BD and KM systems for DoD testing Ranges and various acquisition programs.

Job Summary

This is a remote-capable position, open nationwide. The candidate may work from one of KBR’s facilities or from home, provided they have a stable internet connection.

Responsibilities include:

• Deploying and integrating CHEETAS, a high-visibility data analytic project, at multiple DoD ranges and labs.
• Serving as the primary interface for customers during CHEETAS deployment within their environments.
• Collaborating closely with system administrators and software developers to resolve deployment issues.
• Deploying CHEETAS in diverse environments with different hardware stacks and ecosystems, sometimes within secure vaults with no external internet.

Basic Qualifications

• Active U.S. government TS/SCI security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Data Science, etc.) and 10 years of DoD experience. Entry-level engineers are not considered due to the role's breadth.
• Experience with Hadoop, SQL Server Big Data Cluster, Kubernetes, CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat, Windows Server, VMWare, etc.
• At least five years of hands-on experience in big data environments.

Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency in deploying and configuring big data and knowledge management tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, document procedures, and present findings.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in government/defense labs.
• Experience with DoD acquisition programs and cybersecurity policies.

Compensation: $150,000 - $200,000
