Job summary

TikTok is seeking a smart, highly motivated data systems engineer for our Recommendation Architecture Team in San Jose. You will help design offline data architectures and scalable storage/compute systems to support a high-velocity, global video platform.

Responsibilities include building distributed storage and computing frameworks, troubleshooting production systems, and applying ML techniques to transform data into actionable insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Familiar with open source big data frameworks: Hadoop, Hive, Flink, FlinkSQL, Spark, Kafka, HBase, Redis, RocksDB, ElasticSearch, etc.
• Familiar with Java, C++ and other programming languages.
• Strong coding and troubleshooting ability.
• Willing to challenge questions that have no obvious answers and have a strong enthusiasm for learning new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a reasonable offline data architecture for large-scale recommendation systems.
• Design and implement flexible, scalable, stable and high-performance storage and computing systems.
• Troubleshoot the production system and create mechanisms to ensure stability of the production environment.
• Build industry-leading distributed systems for massive data and large-scale business platforms.
• Develop analytics to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.
• Apply data mining, data modelling, NLP, and ML to extract and analyze information from large datasets.
• Visualize, interpret, and report data findings; create dynamic data reports.
