Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an educational aide to support special education students in Behavior Intervention Classrooms. The role assists with IEP implementation, self-help and behavior management, under supervision of the principal and a certified teacher.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, Texas Educational Aide certification, and preference for those with experience with children with emotional and behavioral disabilities. Strong communication and tech skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of college/associate degree or two years of study.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Two years of experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct individual students or small groups in completing instructional assignments.
• Reinforce academic or developmental skills previously taught.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground periods.
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Gather data to assist teachers with progress monitoring.
• Implement positive behavior supports to manage student behavior.
• Intervene in crisis situations using training as required.
• Accommodate each student’s medical, physical, and emotional needs.
• Support substitute teachers with routines and schedules.
