Job summary

Alaris Health Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) at Cedar Grove is seeking a Safety Officer to ensure a safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The role requires continuous observation, de-escalation of escalating behaviors using CPI guidelines, and timely reporting of incidents in coordination with the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include safety rounds, visitor screening, assisting with resident transfers, and maintaining secure doors and safety systems.

Qualifications

• CPI training and advanced behavioral techniques are required.
• Experience with de-escalation and crisis management in healthcare is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication with residents, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous observation of residents.
• Identify escalating behaviors and apply CPI de-escalation.
• Screen visitors and inspect packages for safety.
• Report incidents promptly to BHU supervisors and regulatory bodies.
• Conduct safety rounds and monitor environmental hazards.
• Provide end-of-shift reports to the incoming Safety Officer.
• Escort and transport residents to programs as needed.
• Provide 1:1 observation as ordered by a physician.
