Job summary

BMC Berkeley Medical Center is seeking an Activity Coordinator to organize patient activities and enrich patient well-being. Roles include planning leisure activities, integrating plans into care, and coordinating with staff and families.

The candidate should have a HS diploma and 2 years’ experience in patient-care settings. Some college and CTRS are a plus; EPIC software experience is valued. Monday–Friday, 10a–6:30p, 40 hours/week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years’ experience as an activity coordinator or volunteer coordinator in a patient care setting.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• CTRS certification preferred.
• Experience with EPIC software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organizes a patient activities program for individuals and groups based on needs, promoting patient well-being.
• Plans, organizes, and implements leisure activities (physical, social, religious, creative, intellectual).
• Works with unit managers to identify and provide unit-based leisure activity programs.
• Integrates activities into patient care plans and documents in patient records.
• Accepts referrals from units and physicians to visit patients.
• Provides administrative support to the department as needed.
• Assesses referred patients for leisure interests, needs, and problems.
• Involves healthcare professionals, families, and others in activities as indicated.
• Maintains records and documentation; collects and analyzes program data.
• Orders supplies and equipment for the activities program; assists with budget control.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years’ experienceworking as anactivitycoordinator or as a volunteer coordinator in a patient care setting.

11. Collects, organizes, and analyses programmatic data as needed.
12. Orders supplies and equipment applicable to Patient Activities program use.
13. Assists with budget control.
14. Submits requisition for supplies and equipment applicable to Patient Activities program use.
15. Promotes and contributes positively to the intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships.
16. May orient and provide supervision to activity staff and/or volunteers.

1. This position requires a wide range of body motion. Moderate to heavy physical activity may be required. This includes lifting, pushing a loaded cart, and exercise type activities.
2. Able to bend, stoop, reach and be capable of normal rotation, standing and walking for an 11-12 hour shift. Able to lift 40 pounds from floor to waist. Able to ambulate, position, turn and pull up self-assisting adult patients.
3. May occasionally transport patients.
