WMCH Weirton Medical Center is seeking a Recreation Specialist to support patient well-being in a long-term care setting. The role involves planning and coordinating activities, transporting patients to events, and providing education and social engagement to adults and seniors.
Candidates must have a high school diploma, BLS within 30 days, and complete WV state-approved recreation specialist training within 6 months.
Provide an ongoing program of activities designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each patient. Discharges duties in a professional manner while demonstrating values of respect, dignity, integrity and compassion. Actions are consistent with hospital policies and procedures and current standards/regulations governing nursing services and long term care.
High School diploma or equivalent
Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Performs data entry and discharge tracking.
Provides care and education appropriate to the age of the patients served. (Adult 18-79 years, Geriatric 80+ years)

Maintains communication in a professional manner including, but not limited to:
Establishes and maintains good rapport with patients, families, volunteers, and peers.
Provides emotional support to patient and family.
