Summary

Under the direction of the Manager, performs routine duties involving the operation of the telephone console, hospital public address system and clerical details for both outpatient and admissions staff.

Responsibilities
  • Operates telephone console in a courteous manner.
  • Promptly and accurately connects calls to departments or staff.
  • Operates paging system in a clear and presentable manner.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of Code procedures.
  • Is readily available and greets the public in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Assists Volunteers and Registration with patients waiting for registration.
  • Acts as the Information Center for the public and staff.
  • Applies, collects and documents all payments for patients, goods and services.
  • Accurately cashes up and balances drawer at the end of each day.
  • Closes the BAR module nightly for the batches to cross over.
  • Ensures the census is updated and shared with Volunteer Services.
  • Operates and controls access to the safe with proper documentation.
  • Receives, distributes, and documents items properly (prescriptions, patient belongings, physician orders, etc.).
  • Prepares, sorts, and distributes and picks up mail.
  • Assists other department with projects (stuffing envelopes, creating folders, etc.).
