Overview
Buildings & General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont offers an exciting opportunity with room for growth as an Institutional Custodian. These positions are assigned to the new River Valley Therapeutic Residence in Essex, providing custodial and grounds maintenance for a residential facility in a quiet country setting.
A valid driver's license and multiple background checks are required. The work hours are from 12pm to 8:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) employs over 340 staff serving state agencies. BGS provides essential facilities services across the state. Environmental Factors
Duties may involve working in hospital or rehab environments, including office, classroom, and patient care settings. Interaction with patients or residents may involve exposure to infectious diseases or physical injury. Work may extend beyond normal hours and include outdoor work in all weather. Physical ability to climb ladders and lift up to 60 lbs. is necessary. Overtime may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus three years of custodial work experience including floor maintenance tasks, or two years as a BGS Custodian II.
Special Requirements
Some positions require a valid driver's license and personal transportation. Candidates must pass required background checks.
