Job summary

Weekday AI is looking for an Associate Ingredient Scientist in Burlington, MA to join a fast-paced, cross-functional team focused on precise ingredient specifications and FDA compliance documentation.

The role requires 1–3 years in food/beverage R&D, quality, or related internships, and a Bachelor’s in a relevant field. You will partner with Product Development, Regulatory, and Procurement to ensure rigorous data and SOP updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related discipline.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in food or beverage sectors (R&D, Quality, or consumer packaged goods internships).
• Proficient written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Gain a fundamental understanding of raw materials and their uses in beverage production.
• Lead initiatives related to ingredients, including supplier updates, cost reduction, supply concerns, or manufacturing challenges.
• Provide training to cross-functional teams as necessary.
• Adhere to SOPs and accurately input ingredient data into the database.
• Keep precise and detailed laboratory records when ingredients are analyzed.
• Collaborate with Product Development and other R&D departments (Sensory, Ingredients, Nutrition, Regulatory, Flavor Technology, Process Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology).
• Work cross-functionally with Quality and Procurement teams.
• Create and update SOPs and training materials as needed.
• Communicate promptly with vendors to obtain necessary documentation.
