Job summary

Sunny Sky Products in Houston, TX is seeking a detail-oriented QA Technician to support our food safety and quality program in a fast-paced beverage production environment.

You will conduct inspections of production equipment and products, perform testing, maintain records, and ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and company procedures. Evening shift Monday–Friday with potential weekend coverage; proficiency in MS Office and teamwork a must.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years experience in food/beverage QA preferred.
• 4-year degree or 3 years QA in food industry is a plus.
• HACCP training preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office for reporting and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality testing and ensure product specs are met.
• Monitor sanitation and quality programs (GMP, Food Safety/Quality).
• Conduct pre-operational inspections on equipment and address deficiencies.
• Audit process controls and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain clean, organized workspace and assist with additional tasks.

We have generated an extensive product portfolio that includes frozen dispensed beverages, cold dispensed, hot dispensed and beverage enhancers. The Company is seeking an organized, deadline-oriented, self-starter to work in a fast-paced environment. An ideal candidate must possess excellent attention to detail; be able to read, write, understand, and speak English; and be able to handle raw ingredients. This position will be actively involved in the Company Food Safety and Quality program, production, some receiving, and the long-term and short-term goals of the facility. Ability to work as part of a team is essential. This position performs daily inspections of production equipment and product to ensure the highest standards are being met and maintained. Follows established procedures to correct deficiencies identified to meet food safety/quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Follows appropriate quality testing procedures and takes action to meet product specifications (i.e., product testing, label review, in-process testing).
• Monitors the facility during operations to assure sanitation conditions are maintained.
• Monitors the facility during operations to assure quality programs are being maintained (i.e., Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety and Food Quality).
• Performs pre-operational inspections on equipment daily to ensure sanitation was completed properly. Follows established procedures to take corrective action if deficiencies are observed to ensure equipment meets quality standards.
• Audits process control points to ensure all system controls have been achieved. Follows established procedures to correct deficiencies when observed to ensure equipment meets quality standards.
• Monitors and maintains records of wastewater being processed to ensure proper tracking and documentation.
• Ensures all audits, test results, and inspections are documented on the appropriate forms daily.
• Ensures workspace is kept clean and organized at all times.
• Completes other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent educational documentation (GED) required
• 1–3 years of experience working in the food or beverage industry preferred
• 4-year degree or a minimum of 3 years of experience in the food industry in a Quality Assurance position or lab is a plus
• HACCP training preferred
• Must have the ability to use a computer and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software for department reporting and record keeping
• Effective communication skills, as the technician interacts with peers and upper management
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• This role requires extended periods of standing
• At times, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.

Hours

• Full-time job
• Monday–Friday, 9:00 PM–5:30 AM
• Weekend availability as needed (Saturdays will be rotated)

Salary

• $18.50/hr
