Taylor Hopkinson is pursuing a BESS Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a global leader in battery energy storage solutions. The role will be based in Jacksonville, Florida, with regional responsibilities across the Americas.

You will lead deployment, installation, and commissioning of large-scale BESS projects, developing I&C processes and coordinating field teams, suppliers, and cross-functional groups to ensure on-time, on-budget execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of engineering experience with installation and commissioning projects in power/energy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate field teams, technicians, and subcontractors for BESS installation and commissioning.
• Develop project commissioning plans for new BESS projects across the Americas.
• Develop and maintain standardized I&C procedures, work instructions, training materials, and quality and safety requirements.
• Select, train, and qualify subcontractors in partnership with Sourcing.
• Provide field feedback to Quality and Engineering to identify trends and drive improvement.
• Provide technical support to field personnel as the senior I&C technical lead.

Taylor Hopkinson is actively pursuing a BESS Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a global leader in battery energy storage solutions dedicated to advancing the clean energy transition through innovative energy storage technology in Jacksonville, Florida. The organization develops and supports utility-scale BESS that improve grid reliability, integrate renewable energy, and deliver long-term value to customers worldwide. The Installation & Commissioning Engineer will lead the successful deployment, installation, and commissioning of large-scale BESS projects across the region. This role will develop I&C processes, procedures, work instructions, and project plans while coordinating field teams and third-party suppliers. The engineer will work closely with Project Management, Sourcing, Quality, and Safety teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. They will also support field issue resolution, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement, while serving as the regional I&C technical lead and coordinating with global teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Field Service Engineers, Technicians, and subcontractors performing BESS installation and commissioning activities.
• Develop project commissioning plans for new BESS projects across the Americas, ensuring seamless I&C execution.
• Develop and maintain standardized I&C procedures, work instructions, training materials, and quality and safety requirements.
• Select, train, and qualify subcontractors in partnership with Sourcing, building a strong regional network of qualified I&C partners.
• Develop RFQs and subcontractor scopes/contracts in collaboration with Sourcing and Legal teams.
• Provide field feedback to Quality and Engineering teams to identify trends, improve products, and drive continuous improvement.
• Provide technical support to Field Service Engineers, Technicians, and subcontractors, serving as the senior technical resource for I&C.
• Promote a Safety First culture across all I&C activities, partnering with Quality and Safety teams to maintain high safety standards and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, with strong electrical controls engineering knowledge.
• 10+ years of engineering experience, including hands‑on leadership of installation and commissioning projects within power generation, energy, or related industries.
• Proven experience leading and managing technical teams and field personnel.
• Experience with BESS and related technologies.
• Strong technical leadership, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Strong customer focus with the ability to build effective relationships across technical and commercial teams.
