National Electrical Engineering Consultants LLC is seeking a BESS Engineer I (Controls) to support testing, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and verification of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems across the United States. The role favors candidates with controls/automation backgrounds and a willingness to travel extensively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical/Automation preferred).
• 0–3 years in electrical systems, controls, automation, or industrial environments.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control documentation.
• Strong documentation, reporting, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Support testing, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of utility-scale BESS.
• Assist with testing and verification of BESS equipment including battery systems, PCS/inverters, transformers, and switchgear.
• Perform electrical and functional testing using approved procedures and test equipment.
• Read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control schematics, I/O lists, and network drawings.
• Collaborate with NEEC engineers, OEMs, EPCs, utilities, and customers.
