Job summary

The Allen Institute for AI (Ai2) seeks a talented Postdoctoral Young Investigator to join the FlexOlmo team in Berkeley, CA, working on MoE architectures, long-context language models, and retrieval. This 1–3 year position offers a unique opportunity to define and lead high-impact research projects while contributing to open-source software and publications.

Ideal candidates will be within one year of completing their PhD or already holding one, with a strong publication record and deep learning

Qualifications

• PhD near completion or already has a PhD in CS or related field.
• Strong publication record at AI/ML venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ACL).
• Experience with MoE, long-context LLMs, and retrieval is preferred but not required.
• Ability to lead high-impact research projects and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead a high-impact research project.
• Train and release leading models.
• Collaborate with and learn from Ai2 team members.
• Build open-source software for the research community.
• Publish scientific papers in top conferences or journals.
