Job summary

Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL seeks a Bereavement Specialist to provide bereavement and some spiritual care to patients and families, and to support staff with bereavement needs. Schedule is Monday–Friday with potential afterhours for Bereavement Camps.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two year graduate work in ministry and/or CPE training or equivalent preferred.
• Bereavement training or ministry/pastoral experience is preferred.
• No formal pastoral care/bereavement care experience required.
• 1 year of Hospice experience preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• Excellent written and verbal communication needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage, update, edit, and correct bereavement activity in our software system for accuracy.
• Oversee corporate bereavement mail process, ensuring timeliness.
• Contact bereaved clients and offer support, referring needs to Bereavement Coordinator.
• Assist Lead Chaplain in auditing bereavement files and care delivery.
• Lead and develop a bereavement volunteer program.
• Attend monthly Chaplains meetings and other required meetings.
• Participate in office memorial services and related events.
