Qualifications

• Native Bengali speaker with full command of the script and conjunct forms.
• Experience with annotation, transcription, localization, proofreading or data review.
• Precise, character-level accuracy is required.
• Systematic with a consistent taxonomy across hundreds of pages.
• Comfortable with unfamiliar layouts: multi-column newspapers, exam papers, handwritten forms.

Responsibilities

• Open and check a task: pages are provided, you do not source documents yourself.
• Annotate structure: identify and bound every meaningful region of the page and assign component types.
• Record relationships: link each region to the figure or table it belongs to via a parent component.
• Transcribe faithfully: reproduce all Bengali text exactly as it appears, flagging unreadable regions.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas and handwriting.
• Review a colleague's work: second Bengali expert reviews the task end-to-end.
