Job summary

The City of Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Benefits & Wellness Specialist to lead and administer complex employee benefit programs including health, life, disability, and retiree benefits. You will act as a subject matter expert on plan provisions, eligibility, and regulatory compliance while driving process improvements and vendor management.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in HR with a focus on employee benefits, strong Excel skills, and the ability to analyze costs, manage data accuracy,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Human Resources experience with 3 years in employee benefits.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet minimum qualifications.
• Experience with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA and other benefits regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage benefit plans in accordance with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA and other federal and state regulations.
• Oversee benefits programs including health, dental, disability, voluntary benefits, life insurance, and wellness programs.
• Analyze employee benefit costs and recommend cost savings and plan design changes.
• Conduct benefits information sessions and coordinate with providers and agencies.
