What Are We Looking For?

The Benefits Specialist coordinates and manages the employee benefits program. This role is instrumental in evaluating, administering, and enhancing LRHS benefits program while ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have two to three years of progressive experience managing employee benefit programs, including annual reporting, enrollment management, plan documentation, and in-depth knowledge of ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, and other regulations. A strong sense of ownership and the ability to handle complex responsibilities and projects are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including life, disability, health insurance, retirement, and FSA.
  • Advise and inform employees of benefits-related changes and developments, including eligibility, coverage, and provisions.
  • Act as a liaison between benefit vendors and employees to resolve claims issues and benefit concerns.
  • Audit employee benefit enrollment documentation for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure accurate enrollment and reporting for benefit-eligible employees through system entries.
  • Set up employee benefit plans in the benefit systems to ensure appropriate options are available for enrollment.
  • Conduct employee benefit orientations during bi-weekly new employee sessions and other informational meetings.
  • Draft guides, policies, procedures, proposals, and correspondence related to benefits.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and best practices in benefits administration.
  • Calculate employee contributions to ensure correctness.
  • Manage employee enrollment activities for health, wellness, and retirement plans annually.
  • Respond to survey and census requests by investigating and completing responses appropriately.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field.
