Job description

We are seeking a Benefits Specialist in the southeastern Ohio region to join Integrated Services for Behavioral Health (ISBH). This community‑minded organization provides behavioral health and related services in homes and communities throughout southeastern and central Ohio.

The Benefits Specialist will administer all employee benefit and retirement programs, ensuring accurate enrollment, compliance with laws, and effective communication with employees and managers. The pay range for this position is $56,208.17–$64,565.51, based on experience, education, and/or licensure.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Assist with new‑hire orientations.
  • Perform quality checks of benefits‑related data.
  • Respond to employee benefit claim issues and plan changes.
  • Distribute benefits enrollment materials and determine eligibility.
  • Enroll employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Respond to benefit inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, enrollments, status changes, and other general questions.
  • Process and administer all leave‑of‑absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, FMLA & BWC.
  • Interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absence and disabilities.
  • Respond to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees regarding enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts, and manage annual catch‑up contribution enrollment.
  • Assist with the open enrollment process.
  • Administer tuition reimbursement and CEU programs.
  • Administer the vehicle lease program.
  • Provide necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of benefit invoices.
  • Travel within the designated service area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Licensure
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field required.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM‑CP) certification preferred.
Experience
  • 2–3 years of benefits administration experience required.
  • 1–2 years of experience administering FMLA and other leave programs required.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits, leave requirements, and applicable laws (FMLA, ADA, etc.).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate level Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Appropriate auto insurance coverage.
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Ability to work in an Internet‑based, automated office environment.
  • Must maintain a high‑speed internet connection.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
