Job summary

The Hilb Group, LLC in Shelby Township, MI is seeking a motivated Benefits Specialist to join our team in a hybrid role. The position supports client HR departments and employee benefits through enrollment and ongoing service.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in the industry, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail while collaborating with account managers and vendors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college preferred.
• 1–2 years’ industry experience in a corporate environment.
• Strong professional phone skills and Microsoft Office Suite skills.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Resolve claims issues and benefit questions to support client HR and ensure satisfaction.
• Diagnose and handle complex claims questions promptly and efficiently.
• Work with insurance vendors to resolve issues.
• Identify trends and implement new processes when needed.
• Respond to incoming customer service calls within 24 hours.
• Maintain high service levels and low abandon rates on calls.
• Collaborate with enrollment vendors and carriers to ensure client satisfaction.
• Learn vendor systems to assist clients with higher-level concerns.
• Assist with open enrollment testing of client sites.
• Resolve enrollment and reinstatement issues with online administrators where needed.
• Maintain a log of all inquiries and communications.
• Document processes for claims resolution across fully-insured, self-funded plans, carriers, and TPAs.
• Coordinate with Account Manager and team to resolve issues.

The Hilb Group is currently seeking a motivated and ambitious Benefits Specialist to join our team. This position will report to our agency located in Shelby Township, MI. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed, is well organized, able to prioritize, and able to work well with a team. This is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities

• Resolve claims issues and benefit questions to support client Human Resource Department and to ensure overall client and employee satisfaction.
• Diagnose and handle complex claims questions and issues promptly and efficiently.
• Work diligently with insurance vendors to resolve issues.
• Identify trends and implement new processes when needed.
• Answer and respond to all incoming customer service calls.
• Maintain high service levels and low abandon rates on customer service calls.
• Work with outside enrollment vendors and insurance carriers to ensure overall client satisfaction.
• Acquire applicable knowledge of vendor’s system in order to assist client with higher-level concerns.
• Understand and become knowledgeable in using vendor’s systems as applicable to accomplish core job responsibilities.
• Assist with open enrollment testing of client’s site.
• Resolve high-level customer enrollment and reinstatement issues by working directly with the online administrative vendor as needed.
• Maintain log of all incoming calls, inquiries, and emails, including electronic record and data retention.
• Respond to all employee inquiries (phone calls and emails) within 24 hours of receipt, using sunset rule.
• Document all processes and procedures for resolution of claims, working with both fully-insured and self-funded, carriers and TPAs.
• Work with Account Manager and other team members as needed to resolve customer service issues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college preferred.
