Job description

We are Toshiba. We have an unwavering drive to make and do things that lead to a better world.

Founded in 1965, Toshiba America, Inc. (TAI) is a subsidiary of the globally renowned Toshiba Corporation based in Tokyo. As the holding company for three Toshiba operating companies, TAI offers a wide array of products and solutions across the commercial, energy, and industrial sectors. Together with our subsidiaries, we form the Toshiba Americas Group, which is committed to technological innovation and excellence.

Our Commitment to the Future

At Toshiba America, we are guided by the principle “Committed to People, Committed to the Future.” This core philosophy shapes our strategies and actions as we strive to build a better, more sustainable world. In an era of climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality, we aim to ensure safety, security, and environmental stability for all.

Join Our Team and Make an Impact

Are you passionate about helping employees navigate their benefits and retirement programs? Do you enjoy solving problems, learning new things, and having no two days look exactly alike? If so, we'd love to meet you.

We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to join our Total Rewards team. This role supports approximately 1,200 employees across the United States and 12 employees in Canada, helping them understand and maximize their health, welfare, retirement, and leave benefits. You'll be part of a collaborative HR team that values innovation, customer service, continuous learning, and professional growth.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to expand their expertise across all aspects of benefits administration while partnering closely with HR, Payroll, HRIS, Finance, and external benefit providers.

What You'll Do
Employee & Vendor Support
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employee questions regarding medical, dental, vision, retirement, leave, disability, life insurance, and other benefit programs.
  • Handle complex benefit inquiries and partner with vendors to resolve issues quickly and accurately.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Benefits Administration
  • Administer enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, and retirement plan transactions.
  • Assist with annual Open Enrollment planning, employee communications, testing, and issue resolution.
  • Partner with Payroll and HRIS teams to ensure accurate deductions, eligibility, and system processing.
  • Monitor and reconcile benefits data to maintain accuracy and compliance.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Support ACA reporting, COBRA administration, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Maintain benefit documentation, including SPDs, SBCs, FAQs, and employee communications.
  • Generate reports and analyze trends related to enrollment, utilization, and employee participation.
  • Assist with vendor performance reviews and service-level monitoring.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, employee experience, and administrative efficiency.
  • Participate in system enhancements, testing, and special HR projects.
  • Support evolving business needs and contribute wherever help is needed.
What Makes This Role Exciting

This is not a “same thing every day” benefits role.

You’ll Have The Opportunity To
  • Work across both U.S. and Canadian benefit programs.
  • Gain exposure to health and welfare plans, retirement plans, leave administration, compliance, payroll, HRIS, and vendor management.
  • Participate in enterprise-wide HR initiatives and process improvements.
  • Grow your knowledge and career within a supportive and collaborative HR organization.
  • Build relationships with employees, leaders, vendors, and HR professionals across multiple locations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of benefits administration, HR operations, or related experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with health and welfare plans, retirement plans, COBRA, HIPAA, and compliance administration.
  • Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Professional certifications such as CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English or Vietnamese/English language skills.
Who is an Ideal Candidate?
  • Curious and eager to learn.
  • Detail-oriented without losing sight of the big picture.
  • Flexible and adaptable when priorities change.
  • Comfortable handling a variety of challenges throughout the day.
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating across functions.
  • Passionate about providing a great employee experience.
  • Driven to continuously improve processes and outcomes.

  • Hybrid work schedule with a combination of onsite and remote work.
  • Occasional travel within the U.S. for Open Enrollment activities or site visits.
  • Fast-paced environment with increased activity during Open Enrollment and year-end reporting periods.
