We're not just an HR provider. As a Professional Employer Organization (PEO), we help businesses streamline operations by handling payroll and tax filings, workers' comp, employee benefits, and accounting, all in one place. One partner. Total back-office support.
We're hiring aBenefits Sales Representativewho can speak fluent \"benefits\" and make it make sense to everyone else. This role is about growing our book of business by helping business owners understand what great benefits actually look like—and why it matters for their team.
You’ll own the sales cycle from first conversation to signed group, translating plan documents, rates, and renewal strategy into something a small business owner can actually act on. You’ll need to know quoting well enough to explain it, not just sell it.
What you'll do
- Prospect, qualify, and close new business for group health, dental, vision, life, and ancillary benefits
- Run the full sales cycle: discovery, proposal presentation, and enrollment
- Translate benefits and underwriting jargon into plain language for owners and HR contacts with little to no benefits background
- Partner with our Benefits Specialist/Account Management team to gather census data, prior plan info, and renewal specs needed for accurate quoting
- Review and compare carrier quotes and plan designs, and confidently explain trade-offs (premium vs. deductible, network, funding type, etc.)
- Present renewal options and alternative strategies (level-funded, self-funded, PEO-sponsored plans) when appropriate
- Build and maintain a pipeline in CRM, with timely, accurate documentation of every touchpoint
- Attend enrollment meetings and answer employee-level questions when needed
- Collaborate with carriers, brokers, and internal Account Management to ensure smooth handoff after the sale
- Stay current on plan options, carrier appetites, compliance basics (ACA, COBRA, ERISA), and market trends
- Identify cross-sell opportunities across ABC's full PEO service line (payroll, workers' comp, HR)
Who we're looking for
- You're a natural relationship-builder who can earn trust fast, especially with people who feel overwhelmed by benefits
- You genuinely enjoy explaining complicated things simply—you'd rather over-communicate than leave someone confused
- You're competitive and self-motivated, but never pushy
- You're organized enough to manage a full pipeline without letting anything slip
- You ask good questions, listen well, and know how to close without being salesy
- You're comfortable with numbers—rates, contribution strategies, plan comparisons—without needing to be an actuary
- You're coachable and want to keep learning as plans, carriers, and compliance rules evolve
What you have
- 2+ years in benefits, insurance, or group health sales (required)
- Hands-on experience with quoting or marketing groups to carriers at some point in your career—you understand how a quote comes together, not just how to read one
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to individuals or small groups
- Comfort working in CRM, quoting platforms, and carrier portals
- Working knowledge of group health plan structures (fully insured, level-funded, self-funded) and basic compliance concepts (ACA, COBRA, ERISA) is a plus
- Life & Health insurance license is a plus
Pay:
$65,000 base + OTE $125,000
Why you'll like it here
- Health Benefits (including Vision and Dental)
- PTO
- 401K
- Paid Holidays
- A team that's fun to work with—and serious about doing excellent work
