Job summary

VersAbility Resources seeks an experienced Benefits Manager to lead administration, compliance, and ongoing improvement of our benefits programs. You will oversee health, retirement, leave, and Open Enrollment while ensuring accurate, compliant administration for government contracts, SCA requirements, and CBAs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible HR or Benefits Administration experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years administering comprehensive employee benefit programs.
  • Experience with health and welfare plans, retirement plans, leave programs, Open Enrollment, HRIS, payroll coordination, and vendor management.
  • Experience supporting benefits audits, compliance reporting, billing reconciliation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Administer health, dental, vision, retirement, leave, disability, COBRA, and voluntary benefits programs.
  • Lead Open Enrollment planning, communications, and benefits education.
  • Serve as liaison with carriers, brokers, retirement plan admins, consultants, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, Section 125, Medicare, and related regulations.
  • Manage benefits for government contracts, SCA Health & Welfare requirements, and CBAs.
  • Maintain HRIS benefits data integrity, payroll deductions, billing reconciliations, vendor files, and reporting.
  • Coordinate benefits audits, regulatory reporting, calendars, and corrective action plans.
  • Develop employee communications and educational materials.
  • Supervise Benefits team and drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze benefits utilization, costs, and trends to support leadership decisions.
  • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance, vendors, and leadership on strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Overview

VersAbility Resources is seeking an experienced and strategic Benefits Manager to lead the administration, compliance, and continuous improvement of our employee benefits programs. As the organization's benefits subject matter expert, you'll oversee health and welfare plans, retirement, leave administration, Open Enrollment, vendor partnerships, HRIS benefits administration, compliance reporting, and employee education. You'll also play a critical role in supporting employees covered under government contracts, Service Contract Act (SCA) wage determinations, and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), ensuring benefits are administered accurately, compliantly, and with exceptional employee experience. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with deep expertise in benefits administration, regulatory compliance, HRIS systems, vendor management, and process improvement who enjoys solving complex challenges while building programs that support employees and organizational success.

What You'll Do
  • Administer the organization's health, dental, vision, retirement, leave, disability, COBRA, and voluntary benefit programs.
  • Lead Open Enrollment planning, employee communications, and benefits education.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with benefit carriers, brokers, retirement plan administrators, consultants, and third-party vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, Section 125, Medicare, and other applicable regulations.
  • Manage benefits administration for government contracts, SCA Health & Welfare requirements, and collective bargaining agreements.

  • Coordinate benefits audits, regulatory reporting, compliance calendars, and corrective action plans.
  • Develop employee communications, benefit resources, and educational materials.
  • Supervise and develop Benefits team members while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze benefits utilization, costs, and trends to support leadership decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, vendors, and executive leadership on strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, government contracting, or multi-site organizations.
  • Experience supporting Service Contract Act (SCA), Health & Welfare (H&W), or Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) benefit administration.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, CEBS, CBP, or another HR or Benefits certification.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position operates under a hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite and remotely from a designated home office. The Benefits Manager collaborates regularly with employees, managers, executive leadership, Payroll, Finance, Human Resources, benefit vendors, brokers, consultants, third-party administrators, and government agencies. Occasional travel between organizational locations, vendor meetings, conferences, training sessions, and business events may be required. Periodic work outside normal business hours may be necessary during Open Enrollment, benefit implementations, audits, or regulatory deadlines. Employees must maintain a secure, distraction-free remote work environment that protects confidential employee information. Schedule

This is a hybrid, full-time position scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Employees are expected to work three days per week onsite and two days remotely from a distraction-free home work environment. Candidates must be flexible to adjust their schedule based on organizational needs. Occasional travel and work outside normal business hours may be required during Open Enrollment, benefits implementations, audits, regulatory deadlines, vendor meetings, training, and other Human Resources initiatives.
