Job summary

SGS Consulting is seeking an experienced Benefits Accountant to manage the accounting and administration of union and non-union benefits. You will reconcile benefit payments to the General Ledger, prepare COBRA payments, and audit vendors while coordinating with Legal and external auditors.

You will analyze large data sets, produce ad hoc reports, and ensure HRIS data quality to support accurate benefits administration and enrollment activities.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Related Field.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting, analytical and reporting experience in Benefits Administration (union and non-union).
• Experience reviewing Contracts, Plan Documents, SPD’s, Union CBAs, reconciliation of invoices and interface analytics.
• Ability to analyze large data sets, identify trends and present findings to management and Legal.
• Proven aptitude for data analysis and creating queries.

Responsibilities

• Accounting and administration of all union and non-union benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, HSA, COBRA).
• Reconcile benefit payments to the General Ledger and log adjustments for next period.
• Communicate reconciling differences to Accounting, Auditor, Controller, and Management.
• Prepare COBRA payments for deposit by Cost Center.
• Audit COBRA vendor and ensure notices are generated timely.
• Lead benefit audits and coordinate with Legal, Controller and External Auditor.
• Create adhoc and census reports on enrollments, demographics, payroll deductions, and accruals.
• Maintain HRIS data quality and test interfaces in QA for benefits administration.
• Address benefit plan inquiries using Plan Documents and SPD materials.
• Support annual enrollment events and mergers/acquisitions as needed.
