Job summary

The Department of Economic Security (DES) in Tempe is seeking a Benefits and Eligibility Supervisor to oversee the Benefits and Medical Eligibility units at the Tempe Field Office. This in‑office role plans, directs and coordinates eligibility operations, staff development, and policy implementation to deliver timely public assistance services to Arizonans.

You will supervise staff, ensure compliance with federal and state requirements, conduct performance reviews, and collaborate with managers

Qualifications

• 3 years of eligibility work experience.
• Knowledge of Federal and State laws governing eligibility.
• Strong leadership and training abilities.
• Experience with performance management and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Trains, supervises, and evaluates staff performance.
• Interprets and clarifies program policies and implements changes.
• Assists staff with complex cases and provides guidance to colleagues.
• Conducts quality control and reports on eligibility program metrics.
• Compiles reports and analyzes data across unit activities.
• Participates in hiring panels and workforce planning.
