Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College seeks a Benefits Administrator to support the Executive Director of Employee Benefits with administering health and welfare programs, retirement plans, the BeLively wellness program, and leaves of absence. Responsibilities include processing, auditing, and maintaining workflows in Workday, with strong customer service and confidentiality.

This remote role requires proficiency in MS Office and Workday, and offers periodic on-site trainings at the Indianapolis campus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • Experience with Workday or HRIS/payroll systems preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong customer-service focus and ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Process employee benefit elections, enrollments, changes, and leave requests in Workday.
  • Manage Workday alerts and inbox tasks; follow up with employees or campus HR as needed.
  • Provide general administrative support for benefit and leave programs; maintain documentation and record keeping.
  • Communicate with employees and campus HR on leave requests; respond to inquiries.
  • Assist with audits of benefits, leave processes, and ACA-related tasks.

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:Assists the Executive Director of Employee Benefits in the administration and compliance of the College’s health and welfare benefit programs, retirement savings plans, BeLively wellness program, and leave of absence benefits. This includes processing, auditing, and managing workflows within the College’s benefit administration system, Workday.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide general administrative support for benefit and leave programs, including processing transactions, providing customer service, and managing outstanding tasks.Process employee benefit elections, enrollments, benefit changes, and leave of absence requests in Workday, including maintaining all required documentation and ensuring accurate record keeping.Manage Workday alerts and inbox tasks, including appropriate follow-up with employees or campus HR on missing documents, to ensure timely processing.Process payroll adjustments due to benefit changes, enter timesheet data for employees on leave, and update employee contact information in Workday.Monitor and respond to emails in the shared Benefits Hub inbox with a focus on first contact resolution.Communicate with employees and campus Human Resources on leave of absence requests.Maintain and update contact information for insurance carriers and other benefit vendors.Process vendor notices and Evidence of Insurability notices in Workday.Assist with audits throughout the year for employee benefits, leave of absence, and other benefits processes.Assist in the evaluation and distribution of ACA health plan offers and 1095-C tax documents.Maintain and protect the confidentiality of all employee files, ensuring accuracy of information.This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Executive Director of Employee BenefitsSUPERVISION GIVEN: NoneLOCATION: This position is remote, with the exception of coming on-site to our Systems Office located on our Indianapolis campus for mandatory trainings and/or meetings.HIRING RANGE: $35,000 - $42,000 annually based on education, years of experience, and skills.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:A high school diploma (or equivalent) with related benefit experience is required. An associate's degree with related benefit experience is preferred.Experience with Workday or other HRIS or payroll processing systems is preferredProficient in Microsoft’s suite of applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, required.Must be self-motivated and possess a strong customer service focus.
