Sherpa is partnering with a growing organization to identify a Benefits Analyst to join its Human Resources/Total Rewards team. This individual will play an important role in the administration, analysis, and ongoing improvement of the company’s employee benefits programs. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented benefits professional who enjoys working with data, vendors, employees, and internal stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the employee experience while supporting the organization’s broader compensation and benefits strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support the company’s health and welfare benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, HSA, and other employee benefit plans.
- Serve as a key point of contact for employees regarding benefit plans, eligibility, enrollment, life events, and general benefits questions.
- Manage day-to-day benefits administration and ensure employee information is accurate across HRIS and benefits platforms.
- Support annual open enrollment activities, including plan setup, employee communications, materials, testing, and issue resolution.
- Partner with benefits brokers, consultants, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and other vendors to resolve employee and plan-related issues.
- Analyze benefits data, invoices, utilization, participation, and other reporting to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Reconcile monthly benefits invoices and work with vendors to resolve billing or eligibility discrepancies.
- Support compliance with applicable federal and state benefits regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and FMLA requirements as applicable.
- Assist with required benefits reporting, audits, filings, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate benefits records and ensure plan documents, employee communications, and related materials remain current.
- Partner with Payroll and HR teams to ensure accurate benefit deductions, eligibility changes, and employee status updates.
- Assist with the evaluation, implementation, and communication of new or modified benefit programs.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and benefits information.
- Identify opportunities to streamline benefits processes, improve employee communication, and enhance the overall benefits experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 6+ years of experience in benefits administration, HR, Total Rewards, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of employee benefit programs and benefits administration processes.
- Experience working with an HRIS and/or benefits administration platform.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and communicate benefits data.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including sorting/filtering, formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.
