Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers to answer questions about their situation.
  • Enter verifications/changes on cases.
  • Monitor local drop boxes and scan/index documentation.
  • Register applications dropped off at their location and via the FSD Docs and other queues.
  • Direct customers to the next step in their process.
  • Type and edit materials, including technical terminology; transcribe from dictation equipment.
  • Maintain a significant phase of clerical processes and make decisions per agency policies.
  • Review documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
  • Compose correspondence and maintain case and report files.
  • Establish and maintain complex filing systems; prepare records for storage/archiving.
  • Perform computations involving the application of rules and regulations.
  • Enter, update, and retrieve information in automated systems; develop spreadsheets and databases.

Job description

The Family Support Division (FSD) is seeking applications for Benefit Program Associates. This position will be located in the St. Louis County Resource Center based at 8501 Lucas and Hunt, Jennings, MO.

  • Work directly with customers to answer questions about their situation;
  • Work directly with customers to enter verifications/changes on their cases;
  • Monitor local drop boxes and scan/index documentation appropriately;
  • Work to register applications
    • Register applications dropped off at their location;
    • Register applications through the FSD Docs and other Queues;
  • Direct local customers to the correct next step in their process;
  • Type, utilizing a computer keyboard and word processing software, and edit a variety of material, frequently involving technical or specialized terminology; transcribe from dictating equipment.
  • Maintain, with relative independence, a significant phase or segment of a clerical process or office activity and make frequent decisions in accordance with agency policies, rules or procedures.
  • Review documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
  • Compose correspondence involving some interpretation and application of established policies and procedures; maintain correspondence, case and report files.
  • Establish and maintain complex filing systems; prepare and/or oversee the preparation of records for storage and/or archiving.
  • Perform, review, and verify complex computations involving the application of rules and regulations.
  • Enter, update, and/or retrieve information in automated systems; develop spreadsheets and databases; utilize various software packages in the performance of duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

Individuals selected for this position may receive a higher rate based on a pay differential (e.g. shift, or time-of-service pay).
