The Bench Mechanic will assemble, test, inspect, repair, and overhaul heat exchangers and aircraft components per FAA, EASA, and quality requirements, ensuring production schedules and a safe, organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals and drawings.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Must follow FAA, EASA, ISO, and 5S safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair heat exchangers and components.
  • Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and overhaul activities.
  • Read and interpret manuals and drawings to determine repair methods.
  • Use hand/pneumatic tools and precision instruments for repair work.
  • Maintain accurate records in ERP systems and ensure safe, organized work areas.

Job description

TAT Technologies' Tulsa site serves as the company's Center of Excellence for heat transfer manufacturing, MRO, and OEM solutions. Supporting commercial, regional, and military aircraft worldwide, the site delivers advanced thermal management solutions that enhance aircraft performance, improve reliability, and ensure operational and mission readiness.

The Bench Mechanic is responsible for the assembly, testing, inspection, repair, and overhaul of heat exchangers, aircraft components, parts, and tooling in accordance with company, customer, FAA, EASA, and quality requirements. This position plays a key role in maintaining production schedules, ensuring quality standards, and supporting a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Hours: 1st Shift Typically 6:30am-3:00pm

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair heat exchangers, components, parts, and tooling
  • Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, rework, and overhaul activities as required
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and repair documentation to determine appropriate repair methods and procedures
  • Replace, repair, and assemble component parts using hand tools, pneumatic tools, specialized equipment, and precision measuring instruments
  • Complete work orders, travelers, bills of materials (BOMs), and ERP system transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Operate, maintain, and service specialized maintenance and production equipment
  • Maintain material readiness and accountability for parts, tooling, and maintenance-related inventory
  • Support maintenance planning activities through accurate documentation and electronic maintenance tracking systems
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in both electronic and hard-copy formats
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, FAA regulations, Repair Station requirements, ISO standards, and quality management systems
  • Practice proper tool control, Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention, and 5S workplace organization standards
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas and equipment
  • Collaborate effectively with team members while demonstrating the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
  • Responsible for the assembly, testing, and travelers related to heat exchangers, components, parts, and tools
  • Secondary responsibilities consist of disassembly, cleaning, analytical inspection, reworking schemes, detailing and other duties as assigned
  • Read and interprets maintenance manuals, or other technical data to determine the feasibility and method to perform the assigned task
  • Replaces or Repairs damaged or work component parts using general hand tools, special tools, pneumatic and precision measuring equipment. Assembles components with same tools and equipment
  • Maintains work areas and tools in a clean and organized manner, practices proper tool and FOD control. (5S)
  • Accurately and efficiently completes work orders, BOMS, data inputs within ERP systems
  • Reads and understands Commercial, FAA, EASA, Repair Station and ISO documentations and other related manuals
  • Operates and maintains/services specialized equipment
  • Other duties as assigned,

  • Displays good judgement - quality & safety. Ability to learn and apply new skills. Responsible for both the success of the individual and the team
  • Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Working knowledge and ability to do industrial math calculations and work to tight tolerances
  • Maintain established standards of quality, productivity & attendance. Follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work 6:30am-3:00pm
