Job summary

SUNY Oneonta seeks a Student Belonging and Success Specialist in Oneonta, NY. This role partners with the Office of Equity and Inclusion to advance student success by addressing belonging, campus connection and identity factors that influence persistence.

The specialist collaborates with Academic Success & Achievement and campus partners to design outreach, support strategies, and initiatives that strengthen students' connection to the university and promote inclusive excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• At least two years of professional experience in higher education, student support services, diversity and inclusion, student affairs, academic affairs, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to build supportive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and student success.

Responsibilities

• Belonging-Centered outreach to students referred through the University's student success processes.
• Meet individually with students to understand experiences affecting belonging and connection to the university.
• Engage students to identify strengths, challenges, and opportunities for strengthening their connection to the institution.
• Collaborate with students to develop individualized strategies that foster belonging and support persistence.
• Maintain follow-up and coordinate with campus partners supporting the student's success.
