Job summary

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education is seeking Behavioral Technicians to support students at the specified location. The authorized level is Behavioral Technician II, with entry options down to Behavioral Technician I if needed, focusing on ABA programs, data collection, and social/communication skills.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus required credits or degrees, and be a registered Behavior Technician with BACB or an approved body.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent plus one of the following: 48 semester credits incl. English and Math; AA/AS degree or higher with 48 credits; or successful ParaPro assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Implements ABA program and BIP with fidelity using behavior management techniques.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with students to support social interaction.
  • Promotes replacement behaviors and independence.
  • Records and analyzes program data (ABC, frequency, duration, etc.).
  • Provides instructional support per IEP/ABA; guides independent practice and feedback.
  • Instructs and accompanies students on and off campus per instructional programs.
  • Reports progress to the licensed BCBA and teacher; suggests follow-up actions.
  • Participates in meetings and training to stay current with methods.

Education

High school diploma or GED with eligible credits or degree
AA/AS degree or higher with 48 credits
ParaPro Assessment (ETS)
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with BACB or approved organization
