Job summary

BEAM is seeking a part-time paraprofessional to help support students with special needs in classroom settings across Riverside. You will assist with instructional activities, prepare materials, and support staff in executing plans within the school district.

Under supervision, you will work with students individually or in small groups, help develop social skills, assist with daily living tasks, and support classroom routines.

Qualifications

• Proof of High School Diploma or equivalent or college units.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Experience with youth groups or child centers is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Direct support to students with special needs.
• Participate in activities planned by school district staff.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and activities.
• Assist with in-class activities based on instructions.
• Maintain a neat, organized classroom environment.
• Support learning with behavior management techniques.
• Under supervision, assist with assessing student needs.
• Provide observations of students to staff.
• Work with students in various group settings and provide instruction.
• Assist with classroom technology and adaptive devices.
• Support social skills development and daily living tasks.
• Assist with toileting, dressing, and hygiene as needed.
• Ensure safe, clutter-free restrooms or changing areas.
• Limit time in community outings as directed.
• Participate in program planning meetings when requested.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.
