Job summary

The Baker Center for Children and Families in Boston is seeking a Classroom Behavior Specialist/Milieu Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year. This on-site, full-time role involves reducing behavioral challenges and implementing data-driven behavior plans in a multidisciplinary classroom team.

The position requires crisis leadership abilities, 1+ year experience with children/adolescents, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, though not required.
• 1+ year(s) of related experience working with children/adolescents.
• Ability to lead and manage in crisis situations
• Must be flexible and able to respond to behavioral challenges quickly and safely.
• Strong communication, behavioral support skills, empathy, and curiosity.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural sensitivity.
• Commitment to working in an integrity-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe, respectful, responsible, and inclusive learning environment by supporting students and working proactively to reduce behavioral difficulties.
• Implements behavioral response procedures.
• Provides crisis intervention and support, as necessary.
• Utilizes physical management techniques in compliance with Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) procedures.
• Actively works with classroom team to develop appropriate behavioral interventions and implement behavior plans for students.
• Collects and analyzes daily behavioral data.
• Maintains student attendance and lunch count data on a daily basis.
• Monitors and participates in school-based activities with students, modeling positive social interactions and adaptive behaviors.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

1+ year(s) of related experience with children/adolescents
