Job summary

LGTC Group is a leading provider of evidence-based mental health services in Santa Clara County. The Behavioral Specialist role supports clients throughout their treatment journey in a structured therapeutic environment and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team.

Location options include San Carlos or Union Avenue with hours Monday to Friday 1:30pm-6:15pm. Ideal candidates have a psychology/social work background and experience in mental health settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field (or currently pursuing).
• Prior experience in mental health, behavioral health, or related setting preferred.
• Experience with adolescents and/or adults in structured treatment settings is a plus.
• Basic understanding of mental health conditions, therapeutic environments, and crisis intervention principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day behavioral and emotional support to clients in alignment with individualized treatment plans as paraprofessional.
• Serve as a consistent, positive role model through professional behavior, communication and emotional regulation.
• Support clients in utilizing coping skills and navigating moments of distress.
• Assist clients during check-ins, including using structured tools to assess emotional state and safety, and coordinate with clinicians.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment with clinical team support.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical rounds, and trainings.
• Actively participate in group sessions, model appropriate engagement, and reinforce behavioral expectations.
• Facilitate experiential/behavioral groups while preserving curriculum integrity.
• Contribute observations to support client growth.
• Respond to client distress and crises by escalating safety concerns promptly to the clinical team.
• Collaborate with therapists to ensure timely interventions.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism; uphold boundaries.
• Foster a collaborative team culture.
