Job summary

North Carolina Office of State Human Resources seeks a temporary Behavioral Programming Technician (S) in Raleigh to support students with behavioral challenges through individualized scheduling, interventions, and data-driven progress notes.

The role emphasizes observation-based assessments, evidence-based techniques, and collaboration with the Behavior Team to inform decisions and improve student outcomes. This is a second-shift, part-time-like temporary assignment with no leave benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in mental health or child development with practicum/internship in a similar setting and one year of related experience.
• High school diploma with three years of instructional experience involving goal writing and behavioral management techniques.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain individualized (1:1) support schedules for students with behavioral challenges.
• Conduct scheduled interventions and maintain progress notes for the Behavior Team.
• Provide baseline assessments of behavior through observational recordings in classrooms and other locations.
• Utilize established training techniques from a library of options.

This temporary position is located at 301 Ashe Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27606- Wake County, with Governor Morehead School for the Blind.

Monday through Thursday, 3:00 pm -11:00 pm; Friday 11 am - 6 pm (2nd Shift)

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $24.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.

Management Preferences

• Develop and maintain individualized (1:1) support schedules for students presenting behavioral challenges
• Conduct scheduled interventions, maintain weekly progress notes, and present updates and documentation to the Behavior Team to support data-informed decision-making and student success
• Provide baseline assessments of behavior through observational recordings in various settings (classrooms, living areas, and other locations)
• Utilize training techniques established from a library of options
• Recommend design components or changes for training programs
• Collect and analyze data on causes and effects, triggers, behavioral patterns, likes, interests, and effectiveness of prescribed interventions.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Associate degree in mental health or child development program from an appropriately accredited institution which includes a six-months practicum/internship in a similar setting and one year of the above experience (one year of the above experience may be substituted for the practicum); or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of instruction experience, two years of which must have been in instructional work requiring goal writing and application of behavioral management techniques at the level equivalent to the Educational/ Developmental Assistant or Health Care Technician; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
