Job summary

AMIkids Caddo in Shreveport, LA, seeks a Behavior Interventionist to lead instructional behavioral interventions and support staff in achieving program goals. The role includes tutoring, computer lab assistance, and developing student educational plans under the Director of Education or school leadership.

As a primary escalation point for student issues, the position emphasizes safe, structured activities, crisis response training, and model behavior for enrolled youth in a growing alternative

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in an educational or youth service program, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assists and supports day‑to‑day instructional and behavioral interventions; provides redirection and support to students who exhibit inappropriate behavior in the classroom.
• Prevents and intervenes in youth altercations and incidents, using state‑mandated training methods.
• Administers first aid and CPR during emergencies according to national standards.
• Supervises and participates in a wide variety of academic, vocational, and motivational activities on and off campus; acts as advisor and role model.
• Provides one‑on‑one tutoring and computer lab assistance as needed.
• Participates in the preparation of students’ educational development plans.
• Ensures safety and security of staff and students per policies; handles custodial/maintenance tasks as needed.
• Oversees transportation and security systems to ensure student and staff safety.
• Completes and reviews incident, vehicle maintenance, and facility records.
• Instructs students in care and maintenance of school equipment; supervises program property handling per policies.
• Adheres to contractual and state educational guidelines; acts as Safety Security Coordinator per Red Cross standards.
• May supervise overnight trips and extended trips; on‑call as needed.
• Attends crisis intervention and physical restraint training per requirements.
• Transports youth and may drive for other tasks.
• May assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
