Job summary

Damar Services, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Resource Specialist to join our mission-driven team at our Children’s Residential location.

You will help ensure a safe environment, respond to crises, support residents, and learn behavior support plans under supervision. The role requires six months of experience with behavioral challenges, proof of education, a valid Indiana driver’s license, and a commitment to safety and well-being of individuals with DD/ID.

Qualifications

  • Must have six months of full-time experience working with behavioral challenges and/or individuals identifying with the DD/ID population.
  • Be able to provide formal proof of education required for the position.
  • Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier.
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations for all Damar programs, taking the leadership role in de-escalation and/or intervention.
  • Initiates special precautions for clients that exhibit high risk behavior criteria.
  • Takes appropriate action regarding events affecting the residents’ mental and physical well‑being, including providing client and staff support and crisis management.
  • Understands behavior support plans for high acuity clients.
