Job summary

NEMCSA is seeking a Behavior Intervention Coach in Michigan to partner with teachers, families, and support staff to promote positive behaviors and social-emotional development for children.

You will coach teachers on behavior strategies, observe classrooms to identify needs, and develop plans with families and staff to support students. The role emphasizes training, documentation, and coordinated services to achieve long-term success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in mental health or social work field with two (2) years experience in serving young children and their families OR Bachelor's Degree with a ZA endorsement or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood - General and Special Education ZS endorsement or Bachelor's degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education (major) with specialization in preschool teaching is required.
• Masters Degree in mental health or social work field with one year experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families is preferred.
• Licensed or certified in the field of psychiatry, psychology, family counseling, social work or mental health counseling including infant mental health is preferred.
• Reliable transportation and a valid Michigan driver license is required.
• Complete TPOT Reliability within one year of hire and maintain updated credential.

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching and consultation to teachers on behavior support strategies.
• Observe children and classrooms to identify behavioral and social-emotional needs.
• Collaborate with families and staff to develop and implement behavior support plans.
• Support referrals and connections to additional services when needed.
• Deliver training and resources to strengthen classroom behavior management practices.
• Monitor progress and provide follow-up coaching to support successful outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in team meetings to coordinate services.

Summary

The chosen applicant will be required to submit fingerprints for a State of Michigan Background Check to determine eligibility for employment. You must possess an acceptable form of identification prior to attending your fingerprinting appointment. Preferred ID types include: Unexpired State issued driver's license; identification card with photo issued by a Federal or Michigan Government Agency. Failure to submit fingerprints will result in an ineligibility for hire within this program.
