Position: Behavioral Health Tech

Supervised By: Lead Tech

Position/Individuals Supervised: None

Interrelationships: Maintains open communication with facility staff, clinicians, clients, families, community agencies, vendors, and payors of health services.

Position Purpose: The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) observes patient activity, maintains presence at the treatment center, community housing, and outside activities, and ensures safety hazards are addressed. Responsible for driving the company vehicle to transport clients safely and punctually.

Employee Classification: Full time/Non-exempt

Workplace Environment:

• Environmental Conditions: Mainly indoors, potential exposure to violent situations and infectious materials.
• Machines/Equipment Used: Computer, calculator, fax, copier, telephone.

Physical & Mental Demands:

• Standing, walking, bending, crouching, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, reaching, reading, driving.
• Light to heavy lifting (1-50 lbs).
• High psychological stress, work with others.

Job Category: Universal Precautions/Blood Borne Pathogens Risk: High/Medium/Low depending on tasks.

Responsibilities include developing client structures, overseeing clients, transportation, orientation, insurance follow-up, program evaluation, communication facilitation, relationship building, safety, medication management, incident reporting, cultural sensitivity, and crisis response.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

• Background screening: No disqualifying offenses per AHCA.
• Driver experience: At least 21 years old, 4+ years driving, valid CDL if required, and clean driving record.
• Education: High School diploma or GED; consideration for those without but with relevant experience.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in treatment preferred.
• Licensure: Valid Florida Driver License, CPR, and First Aid within 90 days.
• Skills: Communication, observation, confidentiality, addiction knowledge, emergency procedures, flexibility, and community resource awareness.
