Job summary

SUN Behavioral Health in Kentucky seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct and indirect patient care under RN/LPN supervision. You will ensure a safe, respectful environment and support CQI activities while assisting with admissions, observations, and daily patient needs.

The role emphasizes patient safety, de-escalation, documentation, and collaboration with the treatment team. Prior healthcare experience is preferred, and CPR/de-escalation certs are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with CPR and de-escalation certification.
• Preferred: Some college coursework; CNA certification is a plus.
• Prior healthcare or behavioral health experience is preferred; substitution of education for experience may apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform and record patient vital signs and intake/output; notify RN of changes.
• Observe patients' behavior and mental status; notify RN of changes.
• Assist with restraint of a patient under RN direction and utilize CPI techniques.
• Document on Nursing Assessment Form and/or EHR.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and communicate with nurses, therapists, and physicians.
• Provide general nursing care including ADLs and meals.
• Conduct 15-minute observation rounds and document appropriately.
• Assist with orientation of new staff and therapeutic educational groups.
• Support one-on-one observation for high-risk patients and assist with medical needs as directed.
